说起James Ingram可能了解的人不多，其实他算得上灵魂乐歌手的前辈了。大家耳熟能详的电影【美国鼠谭】的主题曲(Somewhere Out There)就是他与Linda Ronstadt 合唱的。 James Ingram 1956年出生于美国俄亥俄州阿克伦市，主要活跃于70-90年代。在70年代初曾在Revelation Funk表演过，后随乐队一同迁到洛杉矶。他在Quincy Jones 1980年的唱片The Dude 中的(Just Once)是他最初取得的成功，并获得当年格莱美最佳流行男歌手和最佳R&B艺人奖。James Ingram的嗓音浑厚有力，歌声中充满了自信，堪称是80年代最受欢迎的成人抒情/节奏蓝调的第一把交椅，从他曾经获得格莱美奖15次提名就知道他的歌唱实力备受肯定。更是在1981，1984年两次成为了格莱美年度最佳R&B男歌手。
